How does file versioning work?
File versioning works for all PDF, Word, Excel, and CSV files, you can access file versioning from the web platform by logging into your account and following these steps.
Download the file you want to make changes to:
2. Once you have downloaded the file, make the changes you need and save the file once more.
3. Reupload the file, once prompted, select “Replace current item” and click “Upload”
4. This will upload the most recent version of the file, with the changes you made.
5. To go back to the previous version, right-click on the file and select “Version history”
6. This will open the file versioning tab, which shows the current version at the top, and up to 20 previous versions below.
7. With previous versions, you can download, delete, or restore these files into your Drive account by clicking the ⋯ icon
8. If you delete the previous version, the file will be permanently deleted and cannot be undone.
9. To restore your files, click “Restore”. This replaces the current file and removes all other versions. You can download previous versions before restoring files.
10. Once you click restore, the previous version is saved to your drive account
Any previous of your files expire in 30 days. To save them, you can download them before this time expires.
