Learn how to download a backup key to reset your password and regain access to your account without losing access to your files.

Updated over a week ago

When you join Internxt, downloading a backup key protects your account if you forget it or need to reset your Internxt password.

Your Internxt backup key generates a list of random words unique to you, allowing you to reset your account safely without losing access to your files.

A backup key is the only method to recover access to your account because Internxt does not store your password.

Failure to secure your backup key may lead to irreversible loss of your files. When you create your account, please make sure to download and store your backup key securely.

What to do if you lose your Internxt backup key

If you lose your backup key and cannot log into your account but want to change or reset your password, you will have to delete your account and create a new one.

This will cause you to lose access to all your files.

The final option is to click on forgot your password on the login page. This will erase your account and its data, freeing your email and allowing you to create a brand-new Internxt account.
